WORKSHOP 7 MUNICIPALISING EUROPE – EUROPEANISING MUNICIPALISM: CONNECTED EFFORTS FOR SUSTAINABLE CHANGE
Within a context of austerity, growing social inequalities and political impasses at all levels, new social movements, including municipalism, have evolved to formulate alternative solutions to our deep-rooted problems. Taking into account the global dimension of many challenges, municipalists have started to build up networks, share knowledge and build coalitions with other change-makers across Europe and the world. However, many initiatives remain geographically and/or thematically isolated and encounter serious barriers of a political or economic nature. The workshop aims at mapping these various initiatives and to find strategic pathways, allowing activists to better join forces better in order to make sustainable change happen – from the local to the European and to the international level.
